In November 2017 EHPA signed the “Small is beautiful” Declaration and thus joined the Small is Beautiful campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This campaign is a call for a \u00ab\u00a0de minimis\u00a0\u00bb approach on the framework for small renewables & cogeneration installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trade associations representing key players in Europe\u2019s energy transition urge policy makers to take a step-wise approach towards the market integration of small-scale renewable and high efficiency cogeneration installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whilst the European institutions are negotiating the recast of the Electricity Market Design Regulation, the signatories of the declaration launch today the \u201cSmall Is Beautiful\u201d campaign, aiming at highlighting the benefits of small-scale, clean and locally owned installations to move progressively towards a decentralised energy system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These benefits are, however, threatened by the European Parliament\u2019s current proposal requiring all<\/strong> power generators to be \u201cbalancing responsible\u201d and the blanket removal of priority dispatch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than encouraging the participation of consumers or SMEs in the energy transition, the current proposals on the table would act as a disincentive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
